Collegiate Football- The Freshman Experience- Danny Laudet

Get To Know Our Freshman Collegiate Specialists

In our next installment we interview Danny Laudet, who is currently at Virginia Union University on a Full Ride Scholarship.
Field goal kick for Stillwater High School
A short and sweet interview:
1. Name of your School:  Virginia Union University

2. What high school did you attend? Stillwater High School

3. The very first collegiate football practice, I felt… very confident in my abilities. I was making very good contact with the ball. And competing against 23 year old athletes. My hang times on kick off were putting me ahead. I worked to add straight on putting to my arsenal. And was the most accurate kicker on field goals

4. Athletic Status (True Freshman or Redshirt): Redshirt

5. If not Red Shirted, have you had a chance to play in a game yet?  Not Yet

6. Biggest memory/moment so far your freshman year?  Getting to go out and kick with guys that are way older then me and getting them worried to a point they get mad and snap at me cause they are nervous.

7. The 2 biggest differences between high school and college football:  1. The rushing speed guys come is so fast. 2. Coaches tell you what to do and expect it done perfectly every time

8. What did you work on most prior to the start of your college year?  Getting hang time on my kick-offs I believe its the most important aspect in the kicking game to set you apart

9. Best advice you received to prepare you for collegiate football:  Work on up and through the ball on kick off the distance will follow you have to trust that.

Laudet celebrating after a game winning field goal.
10. Most memorable moment as a high school athlete.   4th quarter mounds view game hitting that game winner. Or onside at my first game at Woodbury that made us pull ahead to win

11. 2 Biggest Role Models:   In the kicking game I have to say Taylor Mehlhaff is who I really work to repeat his explosiveness through the ball and Jordan Wettstein with his unbelievable flexibility on kick-off I hope to combine these two and become a strong kick-off specialist

12. Three songs you need to listen to before each game:  "Whisper in the dark" by Skillet, "Rise" by Skillet and "Wake me up" by Avicii

Laudet and Coach Husby training together  in the off season.

Wishing you continued success the rest of the season.

Kickers, Punters and Long Snappers from the National Camp Series ride strong performances into the football season

Congrats to three of our Special Teams Football Academy kickers Danny Laudet, Reid Taubenheim and Patrick Lecorre on getting listed as some of the top rated kickers on National Camp Series.

Click hear to read the Article:
http://www.prweb.com/releases/2012/10/prweb9970561.htm

Kickers, Punters and Long Snappers from the National Camp Series ride strong performances into the football season according to retired NFL Kicker Michael Husted

After a series of kicking camps, several kickers, punters and long snappers had solid results at National Camp Series events all across the continent in hopes of carrying their performances into the football season.

National Camp Series
Learn from the Best and Succeed
San Diego, CA (PRWEB) October 07, 2012
After a long summer of kicking camps, several kickers, punters and long snappers had solid results at National Camp Series (NCS) events all across the continent in hopes of carrying their performances into the football season.

High School Specialists from all over the country put up impressive numbers which should help to land them on college radars. Husted says that by utilizing its Kicking IndeX (KIX) Player Rating System, NCS provides an objective evaluation platform for student-athletes who want to showcase their capabilities to colleges and universities for recruiting purposes.

By sorting through over six years of historical event data, the KIX system determines a kicker’s rankings by cross-referencing player data to determine how the athletes stack up against others, both presently and historically.

"The NCS levels the playing field for those who don't want to get caught up in all of the 'politics' that occurs in the kicking industry,” says Husted. “If you can kick, punt or snap, the NCS KIX system will let a young kicking specialist’s skills speak for themselves. No excuses. No explanations."
With college recruiting starting to heat up as we reach the mid season, here are the top rated specialists after strong National Camp Series event performances.

In the Class of 2013:
*Matthew McCrane, Texas
*Miles Bergner, Colorado
*Jake Thompson, Utah
*Jim Cooper, New Jersey (Committed to Temple)
*Chris Gulla, New Jersey
*Danny Laudet, Minnesota
*Blake Brewer, North Carolina
*Johnny Townsend, Florida (Committed to Ohio State)

In the Class of 2014:
*Zach Schmid, California
*Aaron Dalton, Utah
*Drew Brown, Texas
*Reid Taubenheim, Minnesota
*Christian Pereira, Florida
*Alberto Camacho-Valladares, Texas
*Austin Jones, Florida
*Bryan Gish, Missouri

In the Class of 2015:
*Haden Tobola, Texas
*Zach Charme, Idaho
*Jake Bailey, California
*Rodrigo Blankenship, Georgia
*Jackson VanSickle, North Carolina
*Patrick LeCorre, Minnesota
*Mike Caggiano, New Jersey
*Sterling Hofrichter, Maryland

In the Class of 2016:
*Skyler Southam, Utah
*Austin Montgomery, Pennsylvania
*Mason Tobola, Texas
*Jackson Harris, Texas
*Stephen Yaffee, Florida
*Connor Limpert, Texas
*Davis Brief, New York
*Carson Skinn, Texas

Husted adds the NCS is not just about player rankings, but quality coaching as well.
“NCS Associates are some of the best kicking coaches in the country,” says Husted. “NCS coaches provide the highest quality instruction to high school kicking specialists around the country.”

Best School Spirit Ever- Stillwater High School

One of my football kicking students attends Stillwater High School in Stillwater, MN.  A few weeks ago, he told me about this and soon after a video was posted on YouTube.  Their student fan section orchestrated one of the best fan Cheers/Chants, er "shows" at Homecoming that one could ever imagine.  I've heard creative chants and songs over my years as a player and coach, but this is the icing on the cake.   This video has gone viral already and been seen on many news stations, but I just had to post about this and show it off.  It was all planned through Social Media.

Here is the video below:

Here is the link to the video.

I guess you could say that Stillwater High School, may just have the BEST SCHOOL SPIRIT in Minnesota, if not anywhere.

What creative chants, songs or shows have you seen or heard before?  Post below.

2012 Minnesota Bombers Top Specialists Class

From L to R: LeCorre, Taubenheim, Schmidt, Bolduc, Laudet. Not Pictured: Johnson.
This fall is our 1st Annual 'Minnesota Bombers' Class.  6 Minnesota Kickers and Punters earned a spot on the exclusive 2012 Minnesota ‘Top Bombers’ Specialist Group. Being a "Minnesota Bomber" means that these specialists have been recognized in having great kicking abilities and are some of the Minnesota's Best ‘All Around’ Kickers and Punters for their graduation classes.  They have a bright future as a high school athlete as well as the tools and skill set to play at the college level.

We took some time this fall to get together down at the Minnesota Wing-Commemorative Air Force, St. Paul, MN, and with the help of Michael Much (www.minnesotapreps.com), took some incredible images with the B-25 Bomber-"Miss Mitchell".

I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their support in making Special Teams Football Academy as Minnesota's source in training and instruction of the best in high school recruits. I want to introduce the 2012 Class of "Minnesota Special Teams Bombers."

Danny Laudet- Class of 2013- Danny is a special kid with a special talent. He converted from Rugby and Soccer to trying kicking, and he’s making amazing strides as a kicker. Danny has a huge leg and is getting tremendous height on his kicks and punts. He is strong in all 3 aspects of kicking. It has been exciting to see it all come together this fall. Danny is playing at Stillwater High School, Stillwater, MN. With a record of 6-1, Stillwater will be a force deal with come sections in the Suburban East.

Alexi Johnson- Class of 2013- Alexi has really developed into a very accurate kicker and keeps getting better. He’s been getting great height and distance on his kicks and has been a huge asset to his team this year. He was the top kicker last year as a junior and was also named as he 2012 Kare 11 Preseason All Metro Kicker. Alexi is playing at Shakopee High School, Shakopee, MN. Alexi has consistently performed well and the team is presently 3-4.

Wyatt Schmidt- Class of 2013- Wyatt is a great kicker. He has developed into one of the most accurate kickers in the state, and he keeps getting better. He was named the 2012 Kare 11 Preseason All Metro Punter. Wyatt is playing at St. Thomas Academy, Mendota Heights, MN. Wyatt's team is tied at the of the Classic Suburban Conference with a record of 6-1. They will play So .St. Paul this week for the conference title and Wyatt should play a big part to the success of another championship run this year.

Connor Bolduc- Class of 2014- Connor just may be one of the best punters in Minnesota and he’s only a Junior. He’s very consistent and gets great hang time on his punts, which will make his school’s punt coverage very dangerous.  These next 2 seasons will be fun to watch. Connor is playing at Mahtomedi High School, Mahtomedi, MN. The team is presently 4-3 in the Classic Suburban Conference.

Reid Taubenheim- Class of 2014- Reid is an excellent kicker. He’s had a Div 1 type leg as a sophomore and he keeps getting better. He has been an exciting kicker to follow this year, and is a HUGE asset to his team’s kicking game. It’s not too often you get a kicker as polished as he is as a Junior kicker. Reid is playing at Farmington High School, Farmington, MN. At 6-1 they are heading towards a championship season and will take on Shakopee this week in a Special Teams Football Academy highlight game.

Patrick Lecorre- Class of 2015- Patrick is one of the best Sophomore kicker/punters in Minnesota and one of the tops in the US for his grade level. His only game he started as a Freshman last year, he kicked the game winning field goal in the 1st round of the playoffs. He’s one of the hardest working kickers I’ve seen and will only keep getting better. Patrick is playing Edina High School, Edina, MN. Edina is 7-1 this year with a huge win over #1 Eden Prairie, Patrick and his team are set to make a run at State Tournament Championship.

When you are ready to stand out in Kicking, Punting, Snapping, or Kick/Punt Returning—the team at Special Teams Football Academy is here to help!

With a specialized approach to each session, every athlete will improve with this high-level training. When you're ready to find out more about our camps or lessons, please contact us at 651-353-2660 or CoachHusby@Gmail.com.

High School Kicker Danny Laudet- Kicking Transformation

I'm really proud of the Transformation one of our students, Danny Laudet is making in his training. Here is his Transformation Video after only kicking for 4 months.

Highlight Video of Danny Laudet Varsity Kicker for Stillwater High School (Class of 2013) in Stillwater, MN.

Danny's First time ever kicking was Jan 2012. Since then, he has been working hard perfecting his Field Goals, Kickoffs and Punting. This year, he has attended various Winter Kicking Clinics run by Special Teams Football Academy, as well as private lessons from various trainers.

Danny & I meet for a Private Lesson and to Film his progress to show his improvement.

This is a highlight video showing Danny's transition from just starting kicking 4 months earlier, to putting himself in a position to be one of the top Minnesota kickers in the 2012 season. The video show's Danny's consistency on 9 straight Uncut Kickoffs, as well as going 9 for 9 straight Field Goals between the 30 yard hash marks and the 50 yard line.
