Week 2- Special Teams Players of the Week (2015)

Our Player of the Week posts are designed to recognize the top kicking, punting and long snapping performances of the week in Minnesota at the High School Level.

We had an exciting week for football in the second full week of the Minnesota High School Football Season.  There were a number of high scoring games as well as a number of great performances by specialists and more field goal attempts, which we always love to see.  Our top Minnesota High School specialist had a busy game.  Alex Brennan of Prior Lake High School converted all 5 of his PATs as well as kicked 1 field goal of 23 yards.  Alex had a great game and is off to a great start this season.

The top punter in Minnesota was Drew Hmielewski of Marshall High School.  He kicked a 48.3 yard average on 3 punts.  Congratulations to everyone that had a big game.

Week 1- Special Teams Players of the Week (2015)

Our Player of the Week posts are designed to recognize the top kicking, punting and long snapping performances of the week in Minnesota at the High School Level.  We'd also like to recognize the top performances of some of our student athletes that we've helped train at the Collegiate and High School Level from across the US.

In the first full week of play for Minnesota high school football programs, we saw a lot of great performances. There were a number of stand out performances, but nothing stood out more than Aaron Salmon of Cleveland High School in MN.  Aaron kicked 10 PATs which made him the top kicking point scorer in Minnesota.

Top Punter of the week was Mac Brown of St Thomas Academy.  He had 6 punts for 248 yards and a 41.33 yard average.

Special Teams Football Academy is really excited to announce its partnership with FirstDown PlayBook as their go to source in Special Teams! 

Established in 2015, FirstDown PlayBook launched as an online playbook tool that enables coaches of all levels to create great playbooks on any device.  All of the amazing plays for offense, defense, 7 on 7, special teams, youth and flag are included in one place to give you a streamlined experience.  They also offer very valuable weekly blog content on all 3 major facets of the game as well as 'game experience and mental training' articles written for coaches and athletes.

FirstDown PlayBook was created by Charlie Coiner.  Charlie coached 9 years in the NFL and another 20 in the NCAA.  Coiner worked on offense, defense, recruiting, and special teams for many major football programs including Texas, Minnesota, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Texas Southern, Louisville, LSU as well as had NFL stints with the Chicago Bears and Buffalo Bills.

We are very excited about our partnership with FirstDown Playbook.  With Charlie's extensive special teams background, it was a 'no brainer' for us to have the opportunity to work together and help develop a special teams relationship with them.
