Week 8- Special Teams Players of the Week

As the regular football season comes to a close we see a number of familiar names leading their team in the special teams game.  One of the familiar faces is Connor Bolduc, Punter for Mahtomedi.  He punted for a 41.5 yard average in his last regular season game of season and finished the regular season averaging 40.4 yards a punt on 16 punts with a long of 55 yards.  These numbers may put him in the realm of being the top overall punter in Minnesota in terms of punting average.  The top kicker this week goes to Gary Althoff of Hawley High School.  He converted all 7 of his PATs and converted 1 Field Goal for 10 points. Congratulations to everyone who earned specialists of the week honors!  Good luck to you all in the playoffs.

Our Player of the Week posts are designed to recognize the top kicking and punting performances of the week in Minnesota at the High School Level.  We'd also like to recognize the top performances of some of our student athletes that we've helped train at the Collegiate, Youth and Middle School Level.

Zero Week- Special Teams Player of the Week

Zero Week is the week that is leading up to the first official week of the high school season.  It's a chance for teams who may have had trouble scheduling a game during the season, to play a game during the preseason.  There were only 11 games in MN going on during "Zero Week."  This year we have more specialists reporting and that we trained, so we will be awarding a TOP Kicker and Punter each week as well as Top Collegiate Athlete.

Our High School Prep Co-Athlete Special Teams Players of the Week are Perry Smith of Minnetonka and Louis Hartzog of Chaska. Both kicked 5 for 5 on their PATs.

Top Punter
  • Jason Witherspoon- 4 punts for 142 total yards with a 35.5 yard punt average.

Ryan Weese
But the most impressive performance was done by Ryan Weese of Hutchinson Community College

Top Collegiate Specialist of the Week-
Ryan Weese- 5 for 5 on PATs and 3 for 3 on Field goals (27, 31, 28)- for a total of 14 points.

Congratulations everyone!
