Collegiate Football- The Freshman Experience- Danny Laudet

Get To Know Our Freshman Collegiate Specialists

In our next installment we interview Danny Laudet, who is currently at Virginia Union University on a Full Ride Scholarship.
Field goal kick for Stillwater High School
A short and sweet interview:
1. Name of your School:  Virginia Union University

2. What high school did you attend? Stillwater High School

3. The very first collegiate football practice, I felt… very confident in my abilities. I was making very good contact with the ball. And competing against 23 year old athletes. My hang times on kick off were putting me ahead. I worked to add straight on putting to my arsenal. And was the most accurate kicker on field goals

4. Athletic Status (True Freshman or Redshirt): Redshirt

5. If not Red Shirted, have you had a chance to play in a game yet?  Not Yet

6. Biggest memory/moment so far your freshman year?  Getting to go out and kick with guys that are way older then me and getting them worried to a point they get mad and snap at me cause they are nervous.

7. The 2 biggest differences between high school and college football:  1. The rushing speed guys come is so fast. 2. Coaches tell you what to do and expect it done perfectly every time

8. What did you work on most prior to the start of your college year?  Getting hang time on my kick-offs I believe its the most important aspect in the kicking game to set you apart

9. Best advice you received to prepare you for collegiate football:  Work on up and through the ball on kick off the distance will follow you have to trust that.

10. Most memorable moment as a high school athlete.   4th quarter mounds view game hitting that game winner. Or onside at my first game at Woodbury that made us pull ahead to win

11. 2 Biggest Role Models:   In the kicking game I have to say Taylor Mehlhaff is who I really work to repeat his explosiveness through the ball and Jordan Wettstein with his unbelievable flexibility on kick-off I hope to combine these two and become a strong kick-off specialist

12. Three songs you need to listen to before each game:  "Whisper in the dark" by Skillet, "Rise" by Skillet and "Wake me up" by Avicii

Laudet and Coach Husby training together  in the off season.

Wishing you continued success the rest of the season.
