20 Kicking Academy Students Reach Section Championship Game

Special Teams Football Academy is pleased to announce that 20 of their Varsity Special Teams student athletes representing 14 Minnesota High School programs have helped their teams reach the Section Playoff Championship Games that will be played this Friday.

This is an exciting time for everyone here at Special Teams Football Academy because we are able to see the results of all our off season camps and lessons; and all the hard work that these kids have put in during the off season, starting to pay off.  Our goal is to help every student pursue their football dreams and help put them in a position and direction to reach all their goals.

Over the years that we have been training football kickers, punters and long snappers, we are seeing an increase in high school and college football programs trusting their special teams kicking games even more, from 9-man football to Class 6 programs.  So we are seeing more kicking and punting opportunities each week.

With that being said, Good Luck to the kicking games of: Edina, Stillwater, Wayzata, Holy Angels, Holy Family, Farmington, Apple Valley, St Thomas Academy, Lake City, Rochester Lourdes, Providence Academy, Faribault, Moorhead, Mankato West and Champlin Park.

We are very proud of everyone: Coaches and Athletes included.  Good luck to you all as you compete for a berth at state.

Contact Special Teams Football Academy and take your game to the next level!  See what other satisfied parents and athletes have to say.

Thank you.

Secton Playoffs Round 1- Special Teams Player of the Week

The Playoffs have started here in Minnesota.  Last Tuesday were the first round games of the Section playoffs.   Most of Minnesota's teams played and there were a lot of high scoring games. Tanner Cirks contributed in many elements of Marshall's big win over Mankato East.  Tanner Cirks is not only one of the region’s best kickers, but also a talented defensive end and split end.  As a specialist, he kicked 7 for 7 on PATs and went 1 for 1 on field goals with a 29 yard field goal for a total of 10 points.  For his accomplishments, he earned our Section Playoffs Round 1 Special Teams Player of the Week honors.  Congratulations!

Kickers, Punters and Long Snappers from the National Camp Series ride strong performances into the football season

Congrats to three of our Special Teams Football Academy kickers Danny Laudet, Reid Taubenheim and Patrick Lecorre on getting listed as some of the top rated kickers on National Camp Series.

Click hear to read the Article:

Kickers, Punters and Long Snappers from the National Camp Series ride strong performances into the football season according to retired NFL Kicker Michael Husted

After a series of kicking camps, several kickers, punters and long snappers had solid results at National Camp Series events all across the continent in hopes of carrying their performances into the football season.

National Camp Series
Learn from the Best and Succeed
San Diego, CA (PRWEB) October 07, 2012
After a long summer of kicking camps, several kickers, punters and long snappers had solid results at National Camp Series (NCS) events all across the continent in hopes of carrying their performances into the football season.

High School Specialists from all over the country put up impressive numbers which should help to land them on college radars. Husted says that by utilizing its Kicking IndeX (KIX) Player Rating System, NCS provides an objective evaluation platform for student-athletes who want to showcase their capabilities to colleges and universities for recruiting purposes.

By sorting through over six years of historical event data, the KIX system determines a kicker’s rankings by cross-referencing player data to determine how the athletes stack up against others, both presently and historically.

"The NCS levels the playing field for those who don't want to get caught up in all of the 'politics' that occurs in the kicking industry,” says Husted. “If you can kick, punt or snap, the NCS KIX system will let a young kicking specialist’s skills speak for themselves. No excuses. No explanations."
With college recruiting starting to heat up as we reach the mid season, here are the top rated specialists after strong National Camp Series event performances.

In the Class of 2013:
*Matthew McCrane, Texas
*Miles Bergner, Colorado
*Jake Thompson, Utah
*Jim Cooper, New Jersey (Committed to Temple)
*Chris Gulla, New Jersey
*Danny Laudet, Minnesota
*Blake Brewer, North Carolina
*Johnny Townsend, Florida (Committed to Ohio State)

In the Class of 2014:
*Zach Schmid, California
*Aaron Dalton, Utah
*Drew Brown, Texas
*Reid Taubenheim, Minnesota
*Christian Pereira, Florida
*Alberto Camacho-Valladares, Texas
*Austin Jones, Florida
*Bryan Gish, Missouri

In the Class of 2015:
*Haden Tobola, Texas
*Zach Charme, Idaho
*Jake Bailey, California
*Rodrigo Blankenship, Georgia
*Jackson VanSickle, North Carolina
*Patrick LeCorre, Minnesota
*Mike Caggiano, New Jersey
*Sterling Hofrichter, Maryland

In the Class of 2016:
*Skyler Southam, Utah
*Austin Montgomery, Pennsylvania
*Mason Tobola, Texas
*Jackson Harris, Texas
*Stephen Yaffee, Florida
*Connor Limpert, Texas
*Davis Brief, New York
*Carson Skinn, Texas

Husted adds the NCS is not just about player rankings, but quality coaching as well.
“NCS Associates are some of the best kicking coaches in the country,” says Husted. “NCS coaches provide the highest quality instruction to high school kicking specialists around the country.”

Kicking Coach Testimonials

I recently received a great testimonial from the father of one of our young students.  It was a great email that took a missed field goal and twisted it with a positive perspective.  Please read below:

"I know this is not a big deal compared to many of your other students but Lincoln had his 1st and only field goal kick this last Friday as a freshman.

1 second left & 44 yards at a hash mark. He missed the kick but it was no more than 6 inches below the crossbar straight down the middle. Had he been in the middle of the field he felt he could have made it.

He could not have come even close without your help & we look forward to working with you this winter and next year." - Parent of freshman high school kicker.

This one makes me so happy.  Lincoln and I started training as an 8th grader and this fall competed on the Freshman football team for his school.  It's not often in high school that teams are comfortable enough to attempt field goals, yet alone at the freshman level!  Kudos to his football coach for recognizing a kicking talent in Lincoln at a young age and giving him the chance to kick a Field Goal.  He's an accurate kicker for his age and he will only get better as he gets older.

Thank you.

Football Playoff time!

Athletes,

It's the playoffs, and it's an exciting time of the year.  It's time to see if all the hard work you put in during the off season and regular season will pay off.  There will be game winning field goals, touch downs, hail mary passes and those leave lasting memories that you'll cherish forever.

Photo from an article by Jason Fochtman of www.yourhoustonnews.com
On the flip site, it can be a heart breaking time of the year too, because at each playoff round of football, one team has to go home.  It's a tough time of the year if it's your team, but keep your head up, you worked as hard as you could.  Losing in the playoffs happens to 99% of the people that play sports. A small select few are lucky enough to become a state champion.
Photo taken by Peter Diana / Pittsburgh Post Gazette
Losing does hurt, but use it as a learning experience and set a goal to come out on top next time.  If you are a junior or younger, you have next year (300+ days) to strive to be the best kicker, punter, snapper or skilled position player possible.  Take a week or some time off to heal up.

To quote the great Jerry Rice:
“Today I will do what others won't, so tomorrow I can accomplish what others can't.” & “The Enemy of the best is the good. If you're always settling with what's good, you'll never be the best.”

Train like your competition is putting more time in the gym & field than you are (but do not over train). Try to be the best guy out there on the field.  Strive for greatness.  Win that starting spot next year and don't even let those coaches think twice that it should be someone else.

I even went through those tough times when our High School team was expected to make a State Playoff run and we lost in the Section Semi Finals.  The early playoff loss hurt.  But that loss drove me to try even harder to become a better kicker going into my Freshman year of college.

If you are a Senior, cherish the great memories you had through all your years of football.  If you plan to play, want to try to play football at the collegiate level (Whether it's D1, 2, 3, NAIA & JUCO), or if you haven't contacted college football programs yet, please contact me and we can talk about the "Next Steps," options and set off season training goals.

Take care everyone and good luck in the playoffs.

Week 5- Special Teams Player of the Week

At the midway point in the high school football season, we are starting to see a few kicker's names surface with repeat big kicking performances.  Jake Elliott of Lyons Township HS in IL and Reid Taubenheim of Farmington HS in MN, both had big games for their teams.  For the first time this year, we have a Co-Prep Athlete Special Teams Player of the Week.

Jake Elliott was a big contributor in their game, but unfortunately they ended up in a 1 point loss to Oak Park HS.  Jake kicked 4 field goals from 46, 46, 24, 31 yards and also going 2 for 2 on pats.  To top that off he kicked 5 of his 7 kickoffs for touchbacks.

Here in Minnesota Reid Taubenheim of Farmington High School, had a big kicking game as well contributing 9 points to his team's 27 points. Farmington was 4-0 and playing rival Chaska 3-1.  He went 3 for 3 on PATs and 2 for 2 on Field Goal of 26 and 41 yards!  This win brought their team to 5-0 and a #4 State Rank in Class 5A.

Nice work to both of you!
