Week 5- Special Teams Player of the Week

At the midway point in the high school football season, we are starting to see a few kicker's names surface with repeat big kicking performances.  This week Grant Boege of Blaine had a big game kicking with 5 PATs and 2 field goals of 30 and 22 yards.  There were a number of big performances a number of kickers and punters.  Congratulations to everyone.

Top Minnesota High School Specialists Top Kicker
  • Grant Boege- Blaine- Went 5 for 5 on PATs and kicked 2 field goals (30 & 22 yards)- 11 points

Honorable Mention
  • Tyler Hanson- Prior Lake- 2 for 2 on PATs  and 3 field goals (37 & 41 yards)- 8 points
  • Perry Smith- Minnetonka- 2 for 2 on PATs and 2 field goals (27 & 19 yards)- 8 points
  • Liam Easter- Minneapolis Washburn- 8 for 9 PATs- 8 points
  • Louis Hartzog- Chaska- 8 for 8 PATs- 8 points
  • Jannik Frederiksen- Wayzata- 7 Kickoffs- 6 Touchbacks averaging 67 yards a KO + 1 pooch kickoff.

Top Punter  
  • Brandon Rogers- Forest Lake- 3 punts for 136 yards and a 45.3 yard average.

Honorable Mention
  • Zach Mader- Chaska- 3 punts for 135 yards and a 45.0 yard average.
  • Connor Bolduc- Mahtomedi- 2 punts for 90 yards and a 45.0 yard average.
  • Nick Hoffmann- St Paul Academy- 3 punts for 133 yards and a 44.3 yard average.
  • Reid Taubenheim- Farmington- 9 punts for 369 yards and a 41.0 yard average.

Coach Husby also has helped train a number of specialists that live outside of MN.  We'd like to recognize those student's top performances.
This week we had a number of outstanding performances that we had to recognize.
 
Top Out-Of-State Specialist of the Week

  • Josh Weiler- Fargo South (Fargo, IA)- 5 for 5 PATs and 2 field goals (25 &41 yards)- 11 points

  • Nathan Mesher- Sir John McDonald High School (Waterloo,Canada)- 3 for 3 PATs & 2 field goals- 9 points
  • Trevor Smith- Cambridge Christian (Tampa, FL)- 8 for 8 PATs and 6 touchbacks (3 out of endzone)- 8 points

Top Collegiate Specialist
  • Ruan Albuquerque- Rochester Community & Technical College- 4 for 4 PATs & 1 field goal- 7 points  Ruan leads the JUCO league as well as a few NCAA Divisions in field goals made so far in a season with 10!  Keep it up.
